About the Program

This academically rigorous Online Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programme is tailored for engineers and professionals aspiring to acquire in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art renewable energy technologies. Developed by eminent faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, the curriculum is designed to equip participants to actively contribute to India's and the global community's transition toward a sustainable energy future.

Eligibility Criteria

Institute Level Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum CPI 5.5 or 55% marks in the qualifying degree.

Applicants may qualify via:

  • A valid score above department-stated cut-off in approved national-level exams as applicable to the program discipline (GATE/JAM/CEED/CAT/GRE/GMAT),
  • OR via IIT Kanpur’s online proctored entrance test.

Department Level Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Chemical, Electrical, Energy, Materials, Mechanical, Aerospace, or other relevant branches.
  • OR M.Sc. in Chemistry or Physics (with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the undergraduate level).
  • Selection through interview.

Exceptions for IITK Online Entrance Test

  • Professionals with over 5 years of relevant experience as defined by the concerned department.
  • Applicants with valid national-level test scores above the department specified cutoff.
  • Candidates nominated or sponsored by government/defense organizations.

Fee Structure

Minimum Duration: 1 year/ 3 trimesters

Trimester Fee (₹) (To be paid at the begining of Registration for each Trimester) ₹25,000
Course Fees/Credits ₹4,000 per credit *
Minimum Credits 72 Credits

Application Fee (non-refundable) ₹15,000
Continuation Fee ₹5,000 per inactive trimester.

  • 25% fee concession for candidates sponsored/nominated by the Government/PSUs/Defence Organization.
  • 15% fee concession for corporate bulk sponsored/nominated candidates (5 or more candidates in a year).
  • 40% concession on Program and Course/Tuition Fees for IITK Alumni.

* Course fees per credit may vary for interdisciplinary courses.
