Academic Records

Minimum CPI above the 5.5 specified in Institute Level criteria

Fulfillment of institutional eligibility (via national exam or IITK Online Entrance Test).

Eligibility Criteria

Two-Tier Eligibility Framework

To meet the minimum eligibility requirement set by the Institute, applicants must qualify through either of the following two pathways:

National-Level Entrance Exams

Applicants must have a valid score above a declared cutoff in one of the following exams (as applicable to the program discipline):
- GATE
- JAM
- CEED
- CAT
- GRE
- GMAT

IIT Kanpur Online Entrance Test

Applicants may also qualify through their performance in a centrally administered, online proctored entrance examination conducted by IIT Kanpur.

Each department may define additional discipline-specific requirements, Such as:

Type of undergraduate degree or major
Completion of core coursework in relevant areas
Relevant professional or research experience
Minimum CPI above the 5.5 specified in Institute Level criteria

Fee Concession Policy for Special Categories

To support academic engagement, professional advancement, and strategic partnerships, IIT Kanpur extends the following fee concessions on Program Fee and Course/Tuition Fee:

IIT Kanpur Alumni

40% concession on Program and Course/Tuition Fees for all new online postgraduate programs.

eMasters Graduates (joining M.Tech./M.Sc. in the same department)

Full waiver of Program Fee and Trimester Fee for the first four trimesters. Also eligible for 40% alumni concession on Program and Course/Tuition Fees.

Government and Government Undertakings (e.g., Defense Services, PSUs, SPSUs, CFTIs, Regulatory Bodies)

25% concession on Program and Course/Tuition Fees for candidates with valid NOC, official nomination/sponsorship, or under a formal MoU.

Corporate Bulk Nominations (≥5 candidates in one academic year)
